| Description | A cocoon unraveller in the shape of a cylindrical wheel with small bars across it suspended by two vertical pieces of wood on either side which have a piece of wood on top. This is attached at the bottom to a longer piece of wood. This structure is held up by two wood legs on either side. The legs have crescent grooves carved into them to allow for a pot of silk cocoons to rest under the entire unraveller. This type of device is used to remove threads from a silk cocoon. It is a newer style introduced around 1950. It is used in conjunction with 82-7-108, a silk unravelling stick. See also 82-7-170 and 82-7-202. |
