| Description | Round, wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with eyes joined by a horizontal band of black. Flower blossoms are painted on the sides of the head in place of ears. The mouth is a painted, protruding tube. A tuft of feathers is attached to the top of the head. The body is painted black and yellow and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is the Sipikne Katsina, borrowed from the Zuni, and represents a Zuni warrior. (Colton, H. 1959 #152, Wright, B., 1973 #129) |
