| Description | Huipil made by women who live scattered in the mountains and only come to town [Salama] occasionally. Not made up perhaps only half. Natural brown cotton [ixcaco or cuyuscate {gossypium mexicanum}]. Brocaded with the same cotton in geometric bands. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 28 epi, single ply, Z twist, one strand, hand spun, natural brown cotton. Weft: 20 ppi, single ply, Z twist, one strand, hand spun, natural brown cotton. One panel, four selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
