| Description | Wooden Katsina doll painted reddish-brown. The face has exaggerated features and has four protrusions around the head and one on top. A black, felt scarf is wrapped around the neck and a kilt is painted on in black around the waist. White moccasins are painted over the feet and black leggings over the legs. A feather is held in one hand. This figure is the Mudhead (Koyemsi), a type of Katsina clown. (Colton, H. 1959 #59, Wright, B., 1973 #238) |
