| Description | A wooden kotiate (lobed hand club), flat blade with notched/lobed sides. Both sides of the blade are carved. The reke (butt of the weapon) is carved in the shape of a head. The wrist cord (tau), which is made of plaited harakeke (New Zealand flax), is broken but present. A kotiate is a short-handled thrusting weapon made of either bone or wood that is used in close combat. |
