| Description | Vasilike Ware "Teapot". Shape: Jug on pedestalled base, with long side spout and one coil handle. Knobs on spout probably simulate the eyes of a bird, so that the vase becomes the body and the handle is the tail. Fabric: Fine, light reddish brown (2.5YR 6/4) clay with decoration in mottled red (10R 5/6) to black paint. Decoration: Decoration consists of vertical tongues depending from the upper part of the shoulder, with vertical rows of dots between them. Vasilike ware. Interior and underneath of base unpainted. Condition: Spout repaired, otherwise intact. |
