| Description | A stone mahe (sinker), flat on one side, curved on the opposite side. A groove runs along the curved side below a perforation. This mahe was found three feet below the surface in Shortland, Thames.
Mahe are used to weigh down the base of nets when fishing. A perforation is sometimes present for the insertion of a fixed line. |
