| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with multicolored, diagonal lines below the eyes symbolizing clouds. An elaborate, tableta headdress is attached to the sides and top of the head. A sun is painted on the front of the headdress and clouds on the back. Feathers are also attached to the headdress. The body is painted red and yellow and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is the Kawaika Katsina, borrowed from the Laguna. (Colton, H. 1959 #196, Wright, B., 1973 #195) |
