| Description | Painted wooden sheath. Top (wrangka) kidney-shaped, with one vertical curved ridge on one face. Body of sheath (gandar) painted with sinuous stem with regularly branching five-petalled orange flowers (rinceau), bursting at top (on wrangka) into cluster of five similar flowers. Flanking the flower cluster, a pair of evidently high-ranking male Javanese wayang figures. Painted motifs on two sides of sheath similar but not completely identical: wayang figures repeated, but reversed. |
