| Description | CBS Register: seal cylinder, hematite PBS XIV: a nude Gilgamesh with head in profile, long beard, and hair tied in a loop behind, protects a bull, while turning his head toward an attacking lion, crossed with and held back by a struggling Eabani. A unique figure of a lionman, with head turned back in profile with short hair and beard, stands up, holding his own tail with both hands. In the field there is a lance supporting a star. The scene belongs to the best Akkadian times. Cyl. seal. Serpentine, 24 x 14 mm. |
