| Description | A core of raphia splints [the midrib of the leaflets] is covered with a lashing of thin strips of the leaflets into which is interwoven a simple pattern of similar splints; the strips are twisted in six places to form bands of cord. The whip resembles a riding crop, from which it is probably imitated. Cf. 37-22-23. It was carried in place of a swagger stick. |
