| Description | Doll - figure of a woman or girl lying in a cradle or carrier. The carrier is made of wood and wrapped in hide (likely buckskin); its handle is covered in amber-colored glass beads. The body of the figure in the carrier lies beneath a beaded covering which extends from the neck to just above the ankles. The entire surface is covered in black glass beads, with a climbing botanical design on either side made from white and blue glass beads. A hide cord wraps around the figure, securing it to the carrier. The shoes are also made of hide and adorned with multicolored beads over the toes, and strings of black and white beads around the ankles. The head has a lock of real hair – it is unclear if it is animal or human. It is dark brown, coarse and straight, tied on both sides with a string of yellow beads. |
