| Description | In posture of head, mode of representing features in flattened relief, ears, this figure belongs to a well-defined Lower Congo type; cf. especially the memorial figures AF3675, AF3676. The costume is European, black, "clerical" (coat and trousers); on the head is a skul-cap with a tassel. The wood of these parts of the figure is painted black, as are the eyebrows and point of the chin (chin-tuft). Parts not covered by clothing left natural color or painted white. |
