| Description | Flat in cross section. Upper third divided into 3 flat "tubes" wrapped with dyed porcupine quills. Stripes at either end of each and simple slanting checkerboard lines on 5 "fields" in between on one surface. (Checkers in pink on blue in sections 1 and 5 outer tubes, center on inner; black on white in 2 and 4 on outer, 1 and 5 innter; yelllow on red center on outers, 2 and 4 inner) Hank of red horsehair secured by sinew wrapping at base of divided section. Wrapping near mouthpiece now gone. (Bird feathers?) |
