| Description | The face section, which is in the form of a squatting female figure with left arm upraised (right arm and leg missing), is of wood painted with white pipe clay and red ochre and a little blue. High headdress, of burlap over a reed frame, has five upright horns, the center one with a wide ring around its base; the whole painted white, red and black. Heavy grass "skirt"; thick wooden handle. Collector's note: "Ndemba" by Mbangi of Ngowa-Sanga; "face" is a woman. Two years old. |
