| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted blue with multicolored cloud designs on the cheeks. The eyes are rectangular and a red and yellow notched design is painted between them. The mouth is a painted, protruding snout. Feathers are attached to the top and back of the head. The body is painted red and yellow and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is the Dawn (Talavai) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #108, Wright, B., 1973 #38) |
