| Description | Encaustic portrait on wood of a full featured, elegantly dressed and bejeweled matron, wearing a hairstyle of second century AD. Excellent preservation of the surface, revealing areas where each of the painter's tools were used: the brush for large color areas (background) and the paint knife for more detail (within the face and hair). |
