Abaca is found in the Philippines and is used to create a wide variety of objects, i.e., textiles, bags, rope, etc. Manila hemp is not found in New Zealand (Aotearoa); however, it is widely used in the maritime industry as it is very durable. Manila hemp rope and netting were often found throughout the Pacific in the 1800s-1900s. |
