Description

A twisted, double-strand rope made of harakeke (New Zealand flax). The ends of the rope are tied with plant fiber cord.

Harakeke is an important plant in Māori culture that is widely used for weaving clothing, mats, baskets, rope, netting, etc., as well as medicine. After being extracted and processed, harakeke is called muka (processed flax fiber).
