| Description | Of Mesty; painted. Some Egyptian tombs had a small hidden room called a serdab. A statue of the deceased was placed in the serdab, blocking it from view. One or more holes or a narrow slit in the wall directly in front of the face of the statue would allow the ka -- or life force-- of the deceased which could reside in the statue, to leave the serdab to receive offerings left for the enjoyment of the deceased. |
