| Description | A mat maker in the form of a long, single piece of wood cut with teeth along one side. It has an upright frame which is set up with bamboo when in use. Each tooth has a string strung through it that attaches to the frame. Then Cyperus (ya phue หญ้าผือ ) is hand woven using the mat maker (fuem ฟืม) which is raised and inserted through the strings before tramping the reeds down. This can be used by a single person. It is in the old style as it was at least 30 years old when it was collected in 1981. |
