| Description | A wooden churinga. A long piece of red ochre covered wood which is thin and tapers into points on both ends. The churinga is fluted on both sides and has etchings on both sides. The front side has three spirals of similar size spaced out along the body divided by vertical groups of lines. The back of the churinga also has three spirals, but the one in the middle is notably larger. The spirals are divided by stacked groups of horizontal lines. “Geographical markings.” (Catalog Card) |
