| Description | Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo. (Modern gold stick-pin mount) Draped bust of a female to left, the features are of the so-called Sappho, but butterfly wings have been carved on the headband (fillet) indicating that Psyche is intended. cf. 2549 for similar composition. Italian, 18th or earlier 19th century. |
