| Description | Man's cofradia cloth. Red cotton with narrow blue stripes. Two panels with a purple silk randa join. Purple silk brocading. Four long silk fringes, one at each corner. Old. (attached to piece is a lengthy explaination of the symbols used in the Chichicas) As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 36 epi, two singles, Z twist, red and blue cotton. Weft: 22 ppi, three singles, Z twist, red cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. Two panels, two selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
