| Description | Sommerville: Antique paste intaglio. Apollo guiding the chariot of the sun. Four horses. Very fine. Antique Pastes, Case XXX. Vermeule: Glass paste, imitating pale Sard. Intaglio. (Unmounted) Charioteer driving a quadriga to left. The horses lope forward in a spirited manner and their heads turn in differet directions. Roman Republican, the design having numismatic parallels. |
