| Description | Sommerville: Oriental Sardonyx. Pallas (Minerva). Greek and Roman Cameos, Case Y. Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Bust of Athena to left, wearing elaborate helmet forming the mask of an elderly bearded man. She also wears an elaborate breast plate with a lion's skin on her left shoulder. Her snake curls upward to form the crest of her helmet. 17th Century. |
