A flat doll depicting a Korean man of the upper class from the late 19th to early 20th century holding a fan. He wears a black hat or gat (Korean: 갓) which would have been made of horse hair and or bamboo. Underneath his hat is a headband known as a manggeon (Korean: 망건). The doll is made of a thin board which is covered with cloth which was cut and folded to represent a Korean costume. The silk face has features drawn in black and red ink. The paper hands are pasted to the dress and outlined in ink. 30-21-48 and 30-21-49 are a pair.
