| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted black with multicolored zigzag lines above and below red-painted, downturned eyes. A "T" shape is painted in red in place of a nose. Shreds of yellow and red cloth are attached to the top of the head. The body is painted white with a symbol on the chest. The figure is naked and seated with one arm raised to the face. A two-piece frame is associated with this Katsina doll. This figure is the Heheya (or Hehea) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #34) |
