| Description | Small (soprano) ukulele. Carved on the soundbox are two sets of initials: "G.C.S Aug. '89" and "C P F" [Clarence P. Franklin, donor] in the form of a monogram, and the monogram "UP". Also scratched on top of the soundbox are scenes including Diamond Head and what appears to be a pier, with people on it. Also what looks like a rising (or setting) sun, with a steamboat and waves. Inside, a sticker reading "Manuel Nunes GUITAR MAKER 46 Hotel Street Honolulu H. I." Also a production stamp "Manuel Nunes Guitar maker and Repairer No. 46 Hotel Street Honolulu H.I." Manuel Nunes was one of the earliest ukulele makers in Hawaii. |
