| Description | Vermeule: Intaglio. Lapis. (Modern base metal ring setting). Female, perhaps Aphrodite, sacrificing at a rustic altar. An elderly bearded man assists her and an Eros stands at right, holding a long torch. Alexandrine style, comparable to finds at Begram in Afghanistan. Plaster impression. Late Hellenistic. |
