| Description | Sommerville: Antique paste intaglio, color ruby. Roma. Very fine. Antique Pastes, Case WWW. Vermeule: Glass paste, imitating amethyst. Intaglio. (Unmounted) Athena seated left on a lion footed throne. She holds Zeus' thunderbolt in her raised right hand and her left arm rests on her shield which appears behind her. Graeco-Roman, the design based on IVth models such as those used for coins of Lysimachus of Thrace. Graeco-Roman. |
