Flat base, shouldered body, flaring neck, one loop handle on neck, hands in full relief, arms painted on. Red bottle with face on incasic type, slightly painted ornament

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a carinated body, flaring neck, flattened rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. There is a modeled/molded face on the neck with ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and chin with painted decoration delineating the face and arms in black, white, and red. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and is smoothed with a rotative movement on the interior of the neck. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. There is a black discoloration at the interior. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2839."
