| Description | Wooden Katsina doll carved from one piece of wood. The face is painted red with eyes joined by a horizontal band of blue. Flower blossoms are painted on either side of the head. A tuft of feathers is attached to the top of the head and feathers encircle the neck. The body is painted black and yellow and a painted cloth kilt is wrapped around the waist. This figure is the Sipikne Katsina, borrowed from the Zuni, and represents a Zuni warrior. (Colton, H. 1959 #152, Wright, B., 1973 #129) |
