| Description | Double Weft, Zoomorphic. Figured portion with stepped joining of warp ends around a doubled weft which is continuous in stepped series - the vertical slits not sewed. Warp ends twisted to fringe. Designs: double llama with four heads; bat, dog, etc. Red, green, yellow Tapestry weave in a stair-step design. This large fragment is a part of a poncho. Short twists form fringe on two sides. Unclear how this piece was a "poncho", unreadable. Central section with stripes forming a stair-step design is done in a supplementary fashion. Designs are zoomorphic. According to catalogue card the designs are "double llama with four heads, a bat and a dog." Color(s): Tan (yellow) for main section. Striped design in red, green and tan (yellow). |
